December 11th

Please be in prayer as we quickly are approaching the December 11th court date. It still looks really good as far as us getting our little girl but there are some unknowns. The recommendation to the court is to terminate the birthmother's services. The court will have to decide if enough services were offered to the birthmother and if services should be terminated. The problem is that there was supposed to be some counseling offered that was not provided and they are trying to make up some of those sessions before court. Due to the fact that these services were overlooked there is a small possibility that they could give the birthmother four more months. If this happens we will of course be sad and upset but we will continue to wait it out and see what happens.





We are asking though that all of our family and friends be in prayer about the whole situation. The birthmother has had 20 months to get things right and there is no way that even in four more months she is going to "mature" enough to care for this child. The delay would only make the transition of the baby into our home more difficult. We are trusting the Lord that his plan and timing are perfect....and at the same time interceding in prayer for this precious little girl.





We also request that you pray for our relationship with her birthmother to develop and grow into something wonderful. I know that some people question why we would want to be close to her birthmother or even care? I believe strongly that our daughter will only benefit by us staying in contact with her birthmother. There will never be a question unanswered as she grows up. I know she will want to know what she looks like, why she was placed for adoption, if she has other siblings, etc. These questions we can answer if we are in contact. Also, if any health concerns come up we will be able to ask her detailed health questions. Despite these things, it will greatly benefit her birthmother to always know how her daughter is doing. We will always care deeply for her birthmother and will be eternally grateful to her for the gift of raising her daughter (despite the circumstances of which she came to us). I even find myself excited about getting to know her better and work out the details of the open adoption.
